THE CHALLENGE

A compounding crisis facing millions of families.

Gaza remains one of the world's most severe humanitarian crises. Around 1.9 million people - the vast majority of the population - have been forced from their homes amidst ongoing conflict and widespread destruction.

Entire neighbourhoods have been reduced to rubble, local healthcare systems can barely function, and most families survive on less than six litres of clean drinking water per day.

Thousands of individuals, including young children, have suffered life-changing injuries and lost limbs. The situation requires both immediate emergency care and long-term support to help people recover with dignity.

WHAT WE’RE DOING IN GAZA

Restoring health, mobility, and hope for tomorrow.

Alongside emergency food and clean water, our heart is set on long-term dignity. Through our Movement for Hope clinic serving Gazan refugees in Egypt, we support people who have suffered severe limb injuries with custom prosthetics, wheelchairs, and physical therapy.

We also sponsor Gaza University medical students whose education was cut short. By covering their tuition and clinical placements, we are helping train the very doctors who will heal Gaza’s communities in the years to come.

SUCCESS STORIES

Real impact made possible through your support.

Mahmoud Amer Al-Hamami

Mahmoud Amer Al-Hamami and his wife, Rula Alaa Al-Hamami, lost their home, young son, and health in separate attacks during the war. They currently reside in a tent built over the ruins of their destroyed six-storey building.

Mahmoud was injured in an explosive drone attack that killed his four-year-old son, Ali, in his arms and caused Mahmoud to lose part of his leg. In another strike, Rula suffered a fractured skull, resulting in the loss of her sight and hearing. She requires ongoing medical treatments costing approximately 120 shekels per week, which Mahmoud cannot afford.

To assist the family, Rethink Charity provided a 15,000 shekel donor-funded cash grant to cover immediate living expenses, secure a hearing aid, and fund Rula's medical care. Mahmoud aims to obtain proper care for his wife, establish a small income-generating project, and support his remaining family. Rethink Charity continues to monitor his situation and offer support.

Aseel Mohammed Hamada

Aseel Mohammed Hamada, a 24-year-old divorced woman in Al Tuffah, Gaza, lives alone after sustaining severe war injuries, including a leg amputation and extensive damage to her remaining leg, hand, and face. Following a 45-day hospital stay, she sent her young son to live with his father for his safety, causing her profound emotional distress.

Her severe disabilities prevent her from moving freely, caring for herself, working, or continuing her education. To assist her, Rethink Charity provided a 15,000 shekel cash grant from donors to fund essential medical care—including facial reconstruction, hand surgery, and prosthetic rehabilitation—as well as living expenses and home modifications.

Determined to recover, Aseel aims to complete her treatments, regain her independence, raise her son, and resume her education. Rethink Charity continues to monitor her progress and offer ongoing support.

Mohammed Alaa Khalaf

Mohammed Alaa Khalaf, a father of five in Ad-Daraj, Gaza, suffered complete paraplegia and a pelvic fracture from a war injury 18 years ago. Unable to walk, he remained confined to his brother's fifth-floor apartment to lessen the burden of being carried downstairs.

For 15 years, his condition kept him from earning an income, leaving him unable to afford basic necessities, clean water, school supplies, or Eid gifts for his children. He hoped for surgery, a wheelchair, a tent, ground-level housing, and a sustainable livelihood project.

Rethink Charity directly intervened, delivering emergency aid to his residence. They provided a 15,000-shekel grant to cover urgent needs, medical treatments, hip surgery, a wheelchair, shelter, and a home-based business foundation. Rethink Charity also established periodic disability care and a monthly stipend, restoring Mohammed's independence and enabling him to provide for his family.
