Allah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear. (Qur'an 2:286)
Fidya applies when you are unable to fast in Ramadan and have no reasonable expectation of making up the missed fasts later. This may also include those living with chronic illness or those whose age has made fasting too difficult.
For each missed fast, the prescribed amount provides two meals for a person in need. By fulfilling this obligation, those who cannot fast are still able to participate in the spirit of Ramadan by ensuring others are fed.
Kaffarah applies when a person deliberately breaks a Ramadan fast without a valid Islamic excuse.
The primary expiation is to fast continuously for sixty days. If a person is genuinely unable to do so, the alternative is to feed sixty people in need for each fast that was deliberately broken.
Kaffarah is an act of repentance and obedience prescribed within the Shariah.

All Fidya and Kaffarah calculations follow guidance approved by our Scholars Advisory Board, ensuring that your donation fulfils the required Islamic rulings.
Example– If 3 fasts are missed and Fidya is £5 per fast, the total owed would be £15, which will provide meals to those in need.
