ABOUT
We are change from the ground up
Rethink Charity is locally led, meaning the aid we provide – and the way we deliver it – is determined entirely by the needs of conflict affected people.
Our team members live and work among the people we support
They experience firsthand the challenges local people are facing as they try to rebuild their lives in conflict zones or out of the ruins of war.
We don’t believe in handouts because they create dependency on aid
And no one we support wants to be dependent on aid. Even in the heat of conflict, we run development projects to provide sustainable solutions for survival. This is how Rethink is built, because this is how humans are built. Our work reflects the resilience and resourcefulness of the people we serve.
We work exclusively in conflict zones or post-conflict zones
Because this is our area of expertise. We don’t see a point in responding to every disaster, as it can create a duplication of efforts, wasted resources and inefficiency when too many organisations are in one place. We believe we can do more good doing what we are good at.
We don’t barricade ourselves in airconditioned offices
One of the key principles of Rethink Charity is that all our team members must be actively involved in on-the-ground projects, wherever they are based. So, even in the UK, our team volunteers at a local food bank in Southeast London, ensuring they remain connected to uplift efforts in the communities around them.
Our Mission
At Rethink Charity we aim to empower communities globally by providing not only immediate relief aid but also by promoting self-sufficiency, education, and sustainability. This approach enables individuals in disaster-affected areas and local communities to rebuild and enhance their lives without constant dependence on handouts, restoring their dignity.
Beyond raising awareness about sustainable aid, we strive to empower you to make informed giving decisions. Through charity reviews and a reimagined concept of giving, our goal is to bring transparency and effectiveness to the charity sector.
Our Principles
Serving people: Providing basics like food, sanitation, tents, and emergency shelter.
Education and Development: Empowering the community, especially women and young people, with Quran centres, workshops, nurseries, and schools.
Independence and Self-Reliance: Supporting individuals to be independent through training, learning new skills, job opportunities, and help with owning a home.
Icon Giving back to society: Training and developing beneficiaries to contribute to the local community and be part of projects that give back to society; leading their communities back to independence.
